UI/UX Design is the practice of creating digital interfaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing (UI), but also easy to use (UX). Effective UI/UX Design removes obstacles, steers users toward desired actions, and has a direct effect on conversion rates and business success.
UI/UX Design is the distinction between an online presence that visitors trust and one that visitors leave behind. 88% of online consumers are less likely to return to a business after having a poor experience, and poor design is one of the leading reasons businesses lose visitors before a word of copy is even read. According to industry standards, every $1 invested in UX results in $100 on average, yielding a 9,900% ROI, making it one of the highest ROI investments in the digital sphere.
How Does the UI/UX Design Process Work?
Good design is the result of a solid process. I utilize the Design Thinking methodology of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test to guarantee that all design choices are informed by user needs. My toolkit consists of Figma for wireframing and prototyping, FigJam for user journey mapping, and Maze for usability testing.
What Does UI/UX Design Include?
User Research & Journey Mapping
Prior to designing even one screen of your application, I conduct research into your target user and what they need. User Journey Maps show us exactly where the pain points are and how we can remove them.
Visual Interface Design (UI)
High-fidelity UI design in Figma, including a design system, color scheme, typography scale, components, and responsiveness. All visual elements have a purpose and are functional in nature.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Low-fidelity wireframes are used to establish the structure and flow of the design, and visual design is not started until later in the process. Interactive prototypes can be used to test real users before beginning the project, which can save a lot of time and money in revisions later on.
Usability Testing & Iteration
During our testing process, real people interact with the prototypes and pinpoint pain points that might be overlooked by our own teams. The results of the testing can be used to make design improvements that increase task completion rates.
